Transfer maids refer to those who are already working in Singapore they are seeking to be transferred from their current employer to another employer. You can meet them for an interview in person. In addition, you can request for the Employment History of the transfer maid from their agency.

A maid agency usually takes care of the hassles of Work Permit application, security bond, insurance, travel arrangement, immigration clearance, medical screening, etc. away from you. However, you will need to check with the individual maid agency for details of their pricing and service packages.

You can only employ maids from Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, India and Bangladesh.
1) One-time agency fee around S$1288
2) Maid’s monthly salary averaging between S$700- S$1000 (based on experience)
3) MOM’s Foreign Domestic Worker Levy – currently at S$60 (for Singaporean with young kid(s), elderly or the disabled) and S$300 per month (Singaporean with no young kid, elderly or the disabled and non-Singaporean).
4) Mandatory maid’s insurance & security bond required by MOM costing between S$250 to S$450 per 2-year contract.
Due to the intense competition by numerous agencies in Singapore, there may be some agencies offering unbelievable deals to entice you. It is always wise to read the fine print in the contract carefully before proceeding. Going to agencies which remain accredited to the Consumers Association of Singapore is strongly recommended because you can complain to CASE if you have an issue with the agency.
Although household income is a qualifying criterion, there no exact amount stated by the MOM. The salary requirement is set based on the realistic overall cost of employing a maid, including their salary, levy, insurance, food and other expenses.
